Coolant fans

We purchased a redline on the 26th of Jan 2008. Drove the beautiful turbo home and put it away for the winter season. We Start it about every 5 days just so we keep the turbo lubed. THe first day My wife drove the car in the first 5 miles the check engine light came on. After contacting on star she was told the coolant fans were not working. Only 15 miles on the car and we have encountered our first problem. So we have to take it to the dealer next week and have it looked at. Not a good way to start is it? Anyone else have a similar problem. We do love the car and sure hope this is not a sign of things to come>

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum!

I have read a little about this problem. Before you take it to the dealer check the cooling fan fuse.

You run the risk of problems with any car you buy. The SKYs have their share of problems. Some experience these problems, some do not. In my experience, there are very few instances where the problems were chronic. Don't give up on your SKY!!!

Same here. Bought my RedLine in March, 2007 and within 50 miles, I got the overheating light. Checked the temperature and it was well over 200 degrees. Problem is, I had just gotten in the car and probably taken it about 2 miles away from my office. Took it to the dealership and then had to have the fuse replaced. Also, the horn gave out on the left side after 2 months. And, of course, the tint began bubbling at the 2nd week.
Of course, the dealership is making good on all of this. In addition to the two recalls they recently had a month ago (Feb, 2008) on the rear axle spindle for the suspension and the shaft seal for the power train.
Its kind of like when you are dealing with a psycho. You think to yourself, "You know, its a good thing you're hot".
